Sheryl Burton

International Real Estate Leader

How did your experience at a royal school influence your mindset and ambitions early in life?

I feel incredibly fortunate to have attended the Royal School when I was younger. It’s a truly unique environment owned by the royal family and set in Windsor Great Park, and that experience had a lasting impact on me. From an early age, it inspired a strong curiosity to learn and motivated me to strive for success in life.

What inspired your transition from being a director into the real estate industry?

I’ve always had a passion for marketing, and real estate allowed me to apply that in a more personal and rewarding way. Instead of building success for someone else’s company, I could market myself and directly benefit from my efforts. It also offered me both creative freedom and financial independence.

What were the biggest challenges you faced when you first entered real estate, and how did you overcome them?

One of the biggest challenges I faced when I first entered real estate was the sheer volume of projects, which; it felt overwhelming at the start. Over time, I realized that my real strength lay in networking and building genuine relationships. As I focused on that, connections with developers naturally followed, which made it much easier to learn, grow, and expand my knowledge. Once I found that rhythm, everything began to fall into place—especially because I truly enjoyed the process.

Was there a defining moment that made you realize you could succeed in real estate?

I’ve always been a people person and naturally enjoy socializing, which helped me build strong relationships over the years. Those connections turned into trust, and that was the defining moment for me—when I stepped into real estate and shared my new role with my network, I already had a solid client base. That’s when I realized I could truly succeed in this industry.

What key habits or strategies helped you achieve rapid growth and promotions within your first year?

Staying organized every day was key for me, along with setting clear personal targets to keep myself accountable. I never viewed the office as my competition; I saw myself as my biggest competitor, always pushing to be better than I was the day before.

How would you describe your leadership style when managing a growing team?

I’m not a micromanager – that’s never been my style. I believe in trusting my team, understanding their individual strengths and areas for growth, and supporting them in a way that helps each person perform at their best.

What qualities do you look for when building a strong and diverse international real estate team?

I look for strong personality, a natural spark, and a genuine passion for sales; those are the qualities that really set people apart and help build a dynamic, successful team.

How do you build trust and long-term relationships with clients, especially international buyers?

You don’t just sell to clients, you take the time to truly understand them. I focus on building genuine relationships, remembering birthdays and special occasions, and making sure every client feels valued. To me, they’re never just a number; they’re long-term relationships built on trust.

How do you use your marketing and creative background to stand out in a competitive real estate market?

I’m passionate about personal branding – it’s exciting to be able to incorporate who I am into my profession. I believe that’s what really sets me apart. I don’t like when brokers rely on the same developer images, because it doesn’t reflect their individuality or what they bring to the table. I focus on creating content and marketing that feels authentic, distinctive, and truly represents me.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned throughout your real estate journey?

The most important lesson I’ve learned is that patience is key. A client may not be ready right away, but if you build a strong, genuine relationship, they’ll come back when the time is right.

What are your long-term goals, and how do you plan to leave a legacy in the UAE real estate market?

My long-term goal is to travel the world and expand my real estate presence internationally, connecting with clients across borders. I also aspire to be a voice for women in business, sharing my experiences in resilience and strength within the real estate industry, and inspiring the next generation of female leaders.

What advice would you give to aspiring real estate professionals, especially women aiming for leadership roles?

My advice would be to stay focused & manifest, believe in yourself, and always aim high. The sales follow when you believe you can!
